Taylor still uncertain about Slipknot future

Although the band’s drummer Joey Jordison recently said there would definitely be another Slipknot album, frontman Corey Taylor seems less sure. The future of the band has been uncertain, of course, since the sudden death of their bass player Paul Gray back in May.

Taylor told Metal Hammer: “It’s kind of a grey area right now. Everybody is still feeling it. It’s too soon to tell. I’m very conflicted about whether or not I want to do anything with Slipknot, because, to me, Paul was such an integral part of the band. He was the whole reason that the band was the way it was. Paul was the glue and the orchestrator behind some of the best music we ever wrote. He was the soul of the band. Right now, it just doesn’t make sense [to continue]. Until it does, that’s the way it stays for me”.

Of course Taylor’s other band Stone Sour do continue and have a new album out this week, ‘Audio Secrecy’. To mark that occasion Taylor is presenting shows on Rock Radio each evening this week – you can listen at www.rockradio.co.uk. Also, Taylor’s previously reported upon first novel, based on Taylor’s own views of the Seven Deadly Sins, has been given a release date of 1 Mar by publisher De Capo Press.
