Single Review: The Shortwave Set – Glitches N Bugs (Wall Of Sound)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 8 December 2008
Taken from their 2008 album ‘Replica Sun Machine’ and produced by high profile fan Danger Mouse, ‘Glitches N Bugs’ is a dreamlike affair, lathered in vocal effects and electronic quirks. Although not completely original, and sounding a bit like a plethora of other electronic pop acts from the Beta Band to Athlete and everything in between, it impresses nonetheless with its creativeness. The juxtaposition between the female and male lead is a treat, and creats a wonderful dynamic change that lends itself to the pop sensibilities carved into this blurred and skewed pop song. Sadly however, there are only a few treats to be gleaned from this song, what is on offer is good but lacks any real depth; it feels fleeting and throwaway and not nearly enticing enough. SJS
