Third Man reissuing Sun Records singles
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 16 May 2013
Similar to the one it had with blues label Document earlier this year, Jack White’s Third Man Records has made an alliance with legendary Memphis, Tennessee-based co Sun Records.
The basis of the pact is that Third Man will re-release a series of Sun’s archive titles as 45rpm seven-inch singles. First is a trio comprising Rufus Thomas’ “primitive R&B smoker” circa 1953, ‘Bear Cat’; Sun’s “first certifiable hit” of the same year, The Prisonaire’s ‘Just Walking In The Rain’; and Johnny Cash’s 1956 track ‘Get Rhythm’. So, that’s all cool.
Here are the details, and here is the release date: 21 May.
