Ticketmaster president to go
By Chris Cooke | Published on Wednesday 14 August 2013
Movements are occurring at the top of Live Nation’s Ticketmaster business, with the news that President Nathan Hubbard is on his way out. The ticketing giant’s top man in the North American market, Jared Smith, will take over the role, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Hubbard joined Live Nation via fan club operator MusicToday, which the live conglom acquired in 2006. He was given the top job at Ticketmaster after its merger with Live Nation in 2010.
It’s thought Hubbard may have been eased out of the Ticketmaster President role because overall management at Live Nation increasingly see their ticketing company as an e-commerce, data and online services business, and want someone from a tech background at the top.
The changes at Ticketmaster HQ in the US follow recent executive rejigs at the ticketing firm’s UK business, initiated by the previously reported promotion of Chris Edmonds.
