Two Japanese music showcases announced in London
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 13 April 2015
Do you like Japanese music? Sure you do. But you’re frustrated that you rarely get to see any of the bands you like in London. Well, look at this, there are Japanese showcases aplenty coming your way in the next few months. By which I mean there are two of them. Which is still pretty good.
Up first is a Japan Underground-promoted night at The Pipeline in East London on 13 May, which will serve as a warm-up for this year’s Japan Rising showcase at The Great Escape. On the bill are Moumoon and the CMU approved Passepied. Details here.
Then, in July, the previously reported Japan Night project comes to the UK to coincide with Hyper Japan at The O2. Two shows on 10 and 11 Jul at IndigO2 will see rock bands Vamps and [Alexandros] perform, with Okamoto’s supporting on the first night and Ling Tosite Sigure on the second. Details and tickets here.
The show will be promoted by former AEG Live man Rob Hallett’s new company Robomagic. He said in a statement: “We are proud to be chosen as the promoter of the first Japan Night in London and we will make sure that this will be a memorable concert for all Japanese music fans in London!”
Read our interview with Vamps, in which they discuss being part of Japan Night and performing overseas, here.
