Uber and Spotify alliance expected
By Chris Cooke | Published on Monday 17 November 2014
So, turns out Taylor Swift should team up with that cabbie who drove me home last week, cos he’s definitely as angry about Uber as she is about Spotify, and now the two digital hypemachines are teaming up.
Yep, taxi app whatnot (technical term) Uber is expected to announce an alliance with the Spotifys later today which will mean that people booking a car via the former will soon be able to listen to music from their playlists on the latter for the duration of their taxi journeys. Which means you’ll no longer be able to blame your intimate knowledge of the current Magic playlist on your taxi driver.
The specifics about the partnership are not yet clear. But media types have been invited to sit in on a conference call with Uber chief Travis Kalanick later today and it’s thought Spotify boss man Daniel Ek may be there too. The first hack to ask what Swift fans are meant to listen to during their taxi rides will be teleported into a black cab on the Euston Road and forced to pick up the tab once they reach their destination.
