UK version of Vice’s Thump electronic music site launches today
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 4 December 2013
Having launched in the US earlier this year, Vice’s dance music website and YouTube channel arrives in the UK today, led by editor Lauren Martin.
The site goes online with a previously unpublished Daft Punk interview from 1999, plus exclusive videos from Jon Hopkins and Erol Alkan, plus an article on the life of a touring DJ by Annie Mac. Similar to other Vice sites, such as music-focused Noisey and Motherboard, which covers tech, it will publish a variety of video content, from music videos to documentaries.
Vice’s Head Of Music Alex Hoffman told CMU: “Virtually everyone in the Vice world loves clubbing and nightlife culture, but most dance content tends to be somewhat dry and prescriptive. We want Thump to become a destination for everyone that loves, lives and breathes electronic music. And we want it to be fun”.
