Independent radio firm UKRD, which now owns and operates sixteen FM stations around the country, including, as of last summer, Juice in Brighton, in which it took a majority stake, has appointed a new Music Manager for the group.

Chris Howell takes on that job on 1 Mar, having first joined the business in 2006 via a work experience initiative run by UKRD station Eagle Radio in Guildford.

Commenting on his new role, Howell told reporters: “I’m hugely excited at the chance of working more closely with each of the stations in the group and learning more about all of the markets in which we operate. Helping to increase audience levels at all our stations is something I relish the opportunity to do and I’m looking forward to enhancing still further the truly local radio services which UKRD delivers in its markets”.

The firm’s Group Programme Director Dave Coull added: “Chris’s love of music, combined with his passion for all things digital and his awareness of the need for the development of multi-platform services, aligns him perfectly with the group’s programming strategy”.
