Single Review: Van She – Cat & The Eye (Modular)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 16 February 2009
Van She, the Sydney-based four-piece borne of DJ duo Van She Tech, have a special talent for making music sparkle. ‘Cat & The Eye’ is the band’s latest offering from their debut album ‘V’, and, like singles ‘Kelly’ and ‘Strangers’ before it, is a track that brings glitter, uber-tight clothing and smoky dance floors to mind. Syrupy and shimmering, ‘Cat & The Eye’ is a sluggish but sexy tune with the She’s signature synthy and twinkling electropop embedded throughout, reworked for its release as a single. Remixes include Prins Thomas Diskomiks’ wistful chillout reworking, and a robot-electro makeover by Brooklyn-based house outfit Xxxchange. Another luminous track made for those last wee hours of clubbing. Shine on, Van She. Shine on. TW
