Villagers, Philip Glass playing Nico Muhly mini-fest
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 19 March 2013
NYC-based composer Nico Muhly is curating a programme of six classical/contemporary live recitals entitled ‘A Scream And An Outrage’. Taking place between 10-12 May at the Barbican and LSO St Luke’s in London, it’ll feature, amongst other things, Villagers’ Conor O’Brien and Irish musician Glen Hansard playing an electric guitar concerto scored by The National’s Bryce Dessner.
Philip Glass will also make an appearance (to premiere his 20 ‘Etudes For Piano’) as will the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, violinist Pekka Kuusisto, the Calder string quartet, and Arcade Fire man Richard Reed Parry, who’ll perform his previously noted ‘Music For Heart And Breath’. Oh, and Muhly himself, who’ll be making cameos all over the shop.
