Weiland buries the hatchet with Velvet Revolver
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 18 May 2010
Scott Weiland and his former Velvet Revolver bandmates (former Guns N Roses guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum) said all kinds of nasty things about each other after their acrimonious split in 2008. But now Weiland says he’s not bothered any more, partly because he’s having such a fun old time with the reformed Stone Temple Pilots. So that’s nice.
Weiland told Kerrang!: “It was a great experience [in VR] until near the end. I think we made some great music – and I actually prefer our second album to our first – and I don’t hold any resentment towards any of the guys in the band. I really wish them all the best”.
Speaking about his return to STP, he continued: “I always kinda felt like our story wasn’t over and we still had more music to contribute. So, when I got a call from Dean [DeLeo, guitarist] saying we got offered a few summer festivals I said: ‘Count me in!’ Ever since the first rehearsal, it felt like coming home”.
Stone Temple Pilots release a new album on 25 May. It’s called ‘Stone Temple Pilots’. After all this time, you’d have thought they’d have been able to come up with something a little more imaginative.
