COCAINE CAUSED ENTWISTLE HEART ATTACK
The Who's John Entwistle had cocaine in his system at the time of his death in Las Vegas on 27 Aug. The local coroner has concluded the consumption of cocaine exacerbated a pre-existing condition known as ischemic heart disease, which restricts the flow of blood, though he stressed the death was accidental and not due to an overdose. "From a legal point of view, there isn't anything to be done because we don't have anybody else who might be responsible," he said. Neither the hotel nor the bands management have yet commented on the report. The Whos US tour continues this week the band played Mansfield Massachusetts last night.

JOIN LIZA FOR DINNER
More details have been released about the Liza Minnelli reality TV show set to air on VH1. Unlike The Osbournes the show will be structured around weekly dinner parties cameras will film the preparations for each party and the celebrity guests as they eat, in someways an extension of Ruby Waxs late night dinner party show for the BBC. The show will premiere in October. "We love 'The Osbournes.' We think it's a great show," Minnellis new husband David Gest told reporters yesterday. "They do their thing in a great way. Ours is totally different, more a musical show about a show biz couple." Though not confirming any planned guests he said: "We're hoping to have people like Dr Dre, Mary J Blige, Usher, Alan Jackson. Everybody from current people to legends like George Jones, Al Green, Barry White. Liza will be singing duets with people. It's kind of like a jam in the house. And watching us set these up the day before."

DESTINYs CHILD REACH AGREEMENT WITH FORMER MEMBERS
Destiny's Child are reported to have come to an amicable out-of-court settlement with its two former members, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson. Luckett and Roberson first sued the current members of Destiny's Child and group manager Matthew Knowles (Beyonce Knowles' father) in March 2000 over what they called favouritism on the part of the elder Knowles towards his daughter's career. They then pursued a separate suit in February claiming the group made disparaging comments about them in the lyrics to the song Survivor - an alleged breach of contract based on a previous settlement that disallowed "any public comment of a disparaging nature concerning one another." Although a settlement had been previously reached with the elder Knowles, it remained ongoing with his daughter. Details of the settlement were undisclosed, but Luckett and Robersons lawyer Warren M. Fitzgerald Jr said: "They are happy at this point to put it all behind them. They do feel vindicated with the negotiated outcome."

The Stokes, who were due to support Weezer on a US tour, have cancelled all five dates because Strokes singer Julian Casablancas has a knee injury. On their wbesite Weezer say: "Today we got the inside scoop on Julian from the Strokes, whose injury is still quite nasty, which we sadly learned has forced them to cancel ALL their remaining scheduled dates on the Enlightenment Tour. Julian isn't even able to leave his home for now, but the rest of the Strokes came by to show their support and catch the big rock show. Well, I guess you win some and you lose some. Bummer."

BARBIE GIRL NOT LIBEL
Five years after its release, California federal appeals court declined to reinstate a lawsuit from toy makers Mattel yesterday that alleged the Aqua pop song Barbie Girl infringed on the toymaker's doll patent. Mattel sued MCA Records in the US, and others who helped produce and market the song, because of the line, "I'm a blonde bimbo girl in a fantasy world." The maker of the doll claimed the song violated Mattel's copyright and that it confused consumers into thinking Mattel backed the song. The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court that threw out the defamation suite and the trademark suite. Whether this means we can officially call Barbie a bimbo is not clear. Aqua probably dont care though, they split up last year.
