NEXT ROBBIE LP FINISHED
Robbie Williams has finally left the studio and is back to his leisurely SoCal lifestyle after completing work on his next album Escapology. The new album is described as a "slightly different tack" according to the Williams insiders. We'll hear the results for ourselves on 18 Nov when the album is released. This album completes his EMI commitments, but Williams is yet to sign a new record contract. Its rumoured a £50m deal is on the table from a mysterious source, even though Williams is yet to have any real success in the US. As Ringo sang you know it dont come easy. Meanwhile, Williams has just won a legal battle against the owners of robbiewilliams.info. The site was being used to direct traffic to the Oasis website. The United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization has ruled that the site was being run in bad faith.

GQ REPORTS ON R KELLYS SORDID PAST
A story in GQ magazine makes new allegations against singer R Kelly who is currently facing charges regarding child pornography and sex with underage girls. The article claims:
1. The 14-year-old girl who had kinky sex with Kelly four years ago in a widely bootlegged amateur porn tape is his "goddaughter" Reshonda Landfair, the daughter of Kelly's guitarist.
2. When Kelly was romancing his 15-year-old protégé Aaliyah in 1994, he took her to a suburban Chicago hotel room for a quickie marriage ceremony. Kelly used a phony marriage certificate that listed her age as 18 and the two were legally hitched. The union was later annulled, and Aaliyah was sworn to secrecy and waived all civil claims against Kelly.
3. Childhood friends of Kelly tell GQ that he was sexually molested by a "trusted older man from the neighborhood," which may have contributed to his abusive behavior as an adult.
It seems Kelly's appetite for young girls was an open secret, and until a thief stole that videotape (the main bit of evidence in the case) four years ago the star might never have been arrested because none of the underage girls he allegedly had sex with were willing to testify against him. Kelly currently faces 21 counts of child pornography, though authorities have been unable to indict him on the more serious charge of statutory rape without the cooperation of his victims.

ICE-T TO TIE DA KNOT
West Coast rap veteran Ice-T is reportedly on his way down the aisle with 23-year-old voluptuous blonde model Coco. Ice is said to have told the New York Daily News that he met her on a January video shoot and that it was "lust at first sight, and then it was love." No word on when the 44 year-old rapper/actor will actually be getting married, but when he does he wants pimp-turned-preacher Arch Bishop Don Magic Juan to perform the ceremony. Ice-T said it was the preacher who told him to "put a ring on that, playa." But all is not well: apparently Ice is being sued for child support by Linda Marie Sanchez. Sanchez is reportedly claiming DNA tests prove Ice-T fathered her child, and she's seeking 17 percent of Ice T's adjusted gross income.

ELVIS LEADS THE TRIBUTES
The Velvet Underpants, NoWaySis, Nearvana, Bjorn Again, LA Doors, Stairway to Zeppelin, Slack Sabbath, Trying Maiden etc etc etc
The results of a PRS survey has revealed the UK still has something of an obsession with tribute acts. PRS licenses music use in the UK on behalf of composers and songwriters and as part of this commissions market research company Maritz to conduct an ongoing survey amongst UK pubs, clubs and bars to ensure that royalties due from the public performance of their work are paid to the right people. For the first time, this years PRS survey reveals which artists are most replicated with tribute acts. Unsurprisingly, Elvis Presley is at number one, with all-time favourites like The Beatles, Abba, Queen and U2 also appearing in the Top 10. Robbie Williams is the only post 1990's artist present in the chart.

TOMMY LEE FILLS THE BILL
Tommy Lee will assume the US Ozzfest main-stage slot that was left vacant with the passing of Drowning Pool singer Dave Williams. The ex-Mötley Crüe drummer-turned-frontman will join up with Ozzy, Rob Zombie, System of a Down and the rest of the Ozzfest 2002 crew on 22 Aug in Denver, according to his publicist. Lee will continue throughout the remainder of the trek, which winds down 8 Sep in Dallas. Lee has two existing live performances scheduled during Ozzfest's run that might be affected by his sudden change of plans, and his label and management are working out the situation. Lee had previously toured with Ozzfest in 2000, in support of his first post-Crüe endeavor, Methods of Mayhem, a 1999 album recorded with the band of the same name. His first solo LP, Never a Dull Moment, came out in May.

1XTRA REPORTS: CLUBBERS FEAR VIOLENCE
A third of young black clubbers say they don't feel safe on a night out - and 77% say they've witnessed violence. The figures come from a study for TX - the news programme for 1Xtra, Radio 1's new black music sister station which launched last Friday. It also found a quarter of 16 to 24 year-olds have been involved in a violent incident at a club, while 17% admit to carrying a weapon while clubbing. TX spoke to more than 500 black clubbers and found that 89% of them said they wanted metal detectors in clubs to stop people taking weapons inside. London club Ministry of Sound, where two bouncers were shot in April last year, already uses metal detectors on its door. 1Xtra garage DJ, Femme Fatale plays there and she says that security's "exceptionally tight" and that "the vibe's always been good and if anything it's got better".
