CMU Approved
Approved: Radian
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 13 September 2016
Post-rock experimentalists Radian return in November with their first album since 2009, ‘On Dark Silent Off’. Their fifth LP, it is their first with guitarist Martin Siewert, who replaced Stefan Nemeth in 2011.
The first track released from the album, ‘Scary Objects’, sees the band come back with a new refined definition to their sound. There’s a very industrial feel to it, with guitar riffs sounding more like metal clanging on metal. But despite these sharpened edges, there is still a warm, flowing centre to the music, which keeps it accessible.
‘On Dark Silent Off’ is released through Thrill Jockey on 11 Nov, and the band will be playing three UK shows the same month – Café Oto in London on 25 Nov, Manchester’s Islington Mill on 27 Nov, and The Exchange in Bristol on 28 Nov.
