GIT Award

The GIT Award, a kind of Merseyside Mercury Prize for the people, officially launched for another year the other day. Founded in 2011 by Peter Guy, editor of the Getintothis blog, the award is now open for any eligible acts to enter, with a free-entry night – featuring DJs and live bands Bird, and VEYU, and singer-songwriter Natalie McCool – taking place on 16 Nov at Leaf in Liverpool to celebrate that fact.

The winner, chosen by an industry panel from a shortlist of twelve acts, will be announced (and handed £1000 cash) on 11 Apr 2014 at the Kazimier.

Peter Guy says: “When the GIT Award was established two years ago we had no idea how it would snowball, placing new Liverpool music at the forefront of the national consciousness and have the impact it has had. We hope this year’s award is equally as special (as in past years’), and continues to place the focus on the incredible musicians working within our community”.
