Technology + Teamwork

Sarah Jones and Anthony Silvester’s Technology + Teamwork project has had a fairly protracted launch.

Previously members of XX Teens, they released their debut single as a duo, ‘The Good Way’, in 2016, then followed it up with ‘K + B’ in 2017. Then nothing. The project was halted as Jones found herself in demand as a session musician, touring with Hot Chip, NZCA Lines and latterly Harry Styles. Oh, and there was that whole pandemic thing too.

Anyway, forget all that, because now they’re back. And if you’re expecting another dribble of singles, let me just tell you right now that they have a whole album coming out next year, titled ‘We Used To Be Friends’. They released the bouncy and abrasive title track back in September, and now they’re back with new track ‘Amsterdam’.

As song back stories go, this one is a bit of a curveball. Silvester explains: “A friend’s daughter had a large trampoline in their small back garden, and this found its way into her art exhibition in Amsterdam. She asked if we could write some music to accompany the trampoline, ‘something full of air and silence’”.

Jones adds: “Lyrically it’s about my relationship with music and a reflection on where it once was. It was made in the place I started learning to play drums, while realising the significance of that room”.
