Yvette

One of the bands that turned up on the playlist for last weekend’s Amazing Radio review show ‘It’s Amazing’ (on which I was a guest, and you can listen back to here) were Yvette and their song ‘Pure Pleasure’.

The New York duo make an intense noise, of which ‘Pure Pleasure’ is a fine example. Evoking bands like eX-Girl, The Boredoms, Jesu and the recently approved The Body, the track lurches toward you, slow in pace but with a frantic feel thanks to percussion that sounds like a box of golf balls falling down stairs and a guitar riff that thunders across it at regular, controlled intervals. Halfway through it all descends into chaos before snapping back into a faster, sharper, more resolved attack. It’s pretty great.

The track is taken from the band’s debut album, ‘Process’, which was released by Godmode in the US last year, and makes its way to Europe via the Tough Love label on 5 May.
