Frank Ocean settles Chipotle dispute

Frank Ocean has reached a settlement with US-based Mexican grill chain Chipotle, which is a big relief, I for one will be celebrating with an extra big burrito this lunchtime.

As previously reported, Chipotle claimed that it paid Ocean a $212,500 advance for him to record a song to soundtrack a video it was making, but that the singer then bailed on the project. Ocean claimed that he had been misled about the nature of the video in question, which more overtly promoted the restaurant chain than he’d been told, which was why he dropped out of the venture. Chipotle then denied ever misleading the singer.

Although not responding to the legal squabble in any detail, Ocean posted a photo of a cheque possibly made out to Chipotle for the $212,500 figure on his Tumblr last week, but with the words “fuck off” scribbled on the corner. At the time the restaurant firm said it had yet to actually receive any such cheque, but it seems that it has now arrived, and without the additional annotated swear.

And as a result, says TMZ, the dispute is at an end. And what a heart-warming happy conclusion to what could have been a very messy confrontation that is. I mean, have you ever been involved in a burrito fight? And Chipotle would be in control of the ammunition. Disaster avoided for Ocean I think.
