Gigs & Tours Round Up: Ja Ja Ja, Blood Red Shoes, Tokyo Police Club

Rounding up the latest gig news…
London’s topmost Nordic bands showcase night Ja Ja Ja is back again on 13 Feb following a Christmas break, staging another big gig spotlighting Scandinavian artists, and Scandinavian artists only.
Stationed at The Lexington, the show will feature Norwegian ‘viddeblues’ band Atlanter, Danish singer-songwriter Schultz & Forever, and wavey Icelandic trio Vök. £5 advance tickets are available at this link, whilst a mini insight into the night, via the visual for Schultz & Forever’s simply dreamy new single ‘Falling’ is, well, here:
Meanwhile, Brighton rockers Blood Red Shoes have planned a series of bassist-free live dates, which they’ll be headlining with support (and fellow two-piece strings-drums) units DZ Deathrays and Slaves. The tour, in turn, will support BRS’s eponymous new LP, which is released, the same as their new single ‘An Animal’, on 3 Mar. The dates themselves start on 22 Apr in Nottingham and run through to 2 May in Leeds. Full dates here.
Says the band’s Steven Ansell: “The new album is full of songs that we’ve been aching to play live since we finished recording, so April can’t come around soon enough for us. We’ve also decided to ban bass players from the stage and hook up two of our favourite bands of the moment as our revolving supports – we’ve got DZ Deathrays and Slaves playing every night, so it’s a two-piece guitar and drums overload tour. Intensity in ten cities”.
And finally for today, Ontario alt-pop squad Tokyo Police Club (pictured) will patrol off on a string of shows in March, as part of the motion promoting ‘Forecefield’, their first LP since 2010’s praise-winning ‘Champ’. That’s released on 24 Mar, only days prior to the start of the tour, which kick off at King Tut’s in Glasgow on 27 Mar and finish up at The Scala in London on 1 Apr.
