Gigs & tours round-up: Korn, Neneh Cherry, Peggy Sue and Radkey
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 16 January 2014
Headbangers’ dream Korn are heading off on a tour named after ‘The Paradigm Shift’, their latest LP. It includes the group’s first UK show in a couple of years, and also features founding guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch, who returned to the Korn fold in 2012. The UK show in question is at London’s Brixton Academy on 2 May, so put that in your pipe and smoke it, or just buy into it via the Korn site.
Like Korn, Swedish R&B genius Neneh Cherry (pictured) has revealed a single (proper) date, in the capital, on 26 Feb at Concrete, this following an in-store at Rough Trade East on the previous day. Both show and in-store chime with the issue of Cherry’s Four Tet-mastered new LP, ‘Blank Project’, which you can preview a song from in the excellent ‘Everything’, here:
Folk dolls Peggy Sue, who’re also playing at Rough Trade, on 23 Jan, will build on a sold out show at London’s St Pancras Old Church (27 Jan) with a longer UK tour running from Brighton’s Green Door Store on 7 Apr. Comprising seven further shows, it’ll come to a close at Oslo in London on 15 Apr, in honour of P-Sue’s forthcoming LP ‘Choir Of Echoes’, which is out on 27 Jan. Find tour listings here, and listen to ‘Choir Of Echoes’ single ‘Longest Day Of The Year Blues’ here:
Also, top-volume Missouri punks Radkey will, on 23 Feb, lurch off on a tour of the UK countryside, beginning at London’s Sebright Arms (though that’s sold out), and hitting LDN on the other side, following seven intervening shows, on 5 Mar at the 100 Club.
