Global begins Real Smooth consolidation

While it is still fighting a Competition Commission ruling relating to the majority of its acquisition of the Smooth and Real radio company, Global Radio has begun integrating the two networks with its other stations in the two regions where the regulator raised no concerns, London and the West Midlands.
Presumably that means that, even if it fails to force the Commission to reverse its decision on the other Smooth/Real outposts later this year, Global has no intention of selling on that business – formerly the radio division of the Guardian Media Group – as a whole.
London-based Smooth staff will move into Global’s HQ in Leicester Square, while Real and Smooth people based in the Midlands will move to the firm’s Birmingham base. Global has also admitted that the integration will likely result in some job losses.
