Ian Astbury collaborates with Boris

The Cult frontman Ian Astbury has teamed up with Japanese rock band Boris for a new EP, entitled ‘BXI’, which will be released by Southern Lord in August.
Astbury says the collaboration came about after he saw Boris perform their ‘Pink’ album live and was “absolutely blown away”. He flew to Tokyo in April to record three original songs and a cover of The Cult’s ‘Rain’, which he says is “certainly my favourite interpretation of any Cult song by another artist”, adding: “[This was] one of the best recording experiences I have ever had”.
Boris and Astbury plan to perform live together later this year, and there is talk of a second, perhaps full-length release.
