Pay: £25-30k
Job Type: Employed
Hours: Full Time
Working Pattern: 10am – 6pm, Monday – Friday. Hybrid working (office days Tues-Thurs).
Location: London, E2 8HL
Closing Date: 19/07/23. Interviews will commence the week beginning 24/07/23.

About The Role
Night Department is a London based music management company operating in the electronic music industry. Our roster consists of some of dance music’s leading producers, DJ’s, writers and recording artists. Music is our passion and we excel in delivering growth and success for all of our clients.

We are looking for an ambitious, driven and dedicated General Manager to join our team who is extremely passionate about our roster and ready to manage and steady the company through a time of growth.

The individual will work across all teams to manage and oversee all financial, logistical and operations. You will both support the Director and manage administration and financial systems for the Artist Management and Label teams. You are used to juggling multiple tasks, collaborative in attitude and comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

Company Management:
• Overseeing / supporting the Director on all legal, financial and structural systems of the company.
• Managing all aspects of the building including, commercial lease agreements, the bank account, cash flow, utilities bills, liaising with the property management company and cleaner.
• Updating company policies annually.
• Evaluating and revising company systems annually.
• Being the first point of contact for accountants, lawyers and team.
• Supporting the Director with administrative tasks.
• Recruitment – writing job descriptions, posting job ads and recruiting in line with our equal opportunities policy.
• Driving the Arts Council Equality, Diversity and Inclusion targets that Night Department is committed to.
• Proficient in all Microsoft programmes, Google Workspace and a very good understanding of account systems Xero and Quickbooks.

Accounts:
• Leading weekly calls with the accountants and Director.
• Keeping an eye on the cash flow, bank accounts and commission sheets across three different limited companies.
• Ensure any financial reports are delivered monthly, on time.
• Assist the accountants with anything they need, delivering this in a timely manner.
• Working with the accountant to deliver Year End accounts across all businesses.
• Overseeing and delivering the Directors personal tax return.

Administration:
• Ensuring all files are organised on G Drive
• Updating and maintaining all databases and spreadsheets.
• Google Workspace Administrator (changing passwords, updating phone numbers)
• Approving staff holiday and adding it to the calendar.
• Putting team meetings in the calendar, booking tables for client meetings.
• Managing the collection of artist royalty statements and flagging the company % to the accountant.

Office Management:
• Ordering stationery, or anything else the office or team need.
• Opening and distributing all post.
• Filing and keeping the office tidy.
• Looking after the plants.

Person Specification
• Excellent leadership, business management and development skills.
• Passionate about Music, events, the industry and excellent knowledge of Electronic Music and Dance Music culture.
• A deep understanding of accounting systems and company structures / business models.
• An ability to calmly think critically, analyse and problem solve under pressure.
• A very diligent self-starter who naturally uses their initiative.
• Exceptionally confident communication and writing skills.
• Disciplined and organised.
• Excellent time management.
• A proactive, positive attitude.
• Comfortable working in a team in a fast-paced commercial company.
