Kiss FM goes national
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 17 December 2010
Kiss FM is the latest radio station to capitalise on the relaxation in local radio rules that took place earlier this year, and will drop local programmes from its three Kiss stations in the New Year.
Bauer Radio currently operates Kiss FM in London, the East and the South West, each outpost having some local programmes. But media regulator OfCom has given the green light for the local shows to be dropped, on the condition Bauer make sure Kiss is available on 35 local DAB digital networks (moving up to 38 within three months). This means that digitally Kiss will become a national station.
Kiss MD told Radio Today: “We believe taking this award-winning brand truly nationwide is a great opportunity for Kiss to attract new audiences to its successful mood and music formula. We are not changing the name or format – just satisfying the ever-increasing appetite for Kiss from consumers and advertisers right across the UK”.
