Kobalt to represent Badfinger catalogue
By Chris Cooke | Published on Thursday 10 October 2013
Following the flurry of new interest in Badfinger track ‘Baby Blue’ after its syncing into the finale episode of ‘Breaking Bad’ last month, Kobalt has announced a new deal to represent the publishing catalogue of the British rock band and one-time Beatles collaborators, who split in 1984, via agreements with the estates of principal songwriters Peter Ham and Thom Evans.
Kobalt will now represent the respective catalogues of Ham and Evans, previously handled by BMG, and will presumably look to capitalise on the renewed interest in the band following the crucial ‘Breaking Bad’ sync, which saw download sales and streams of ‘Baby Blue’ sore. The two songwriters themselves are sadly deceased, both having committed suicide, Ham in 1975 and Evans in 1983.
