CMU kicked off the first of two events at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe yesterday, with a CMU Insights session looking at how to get started as a DIY musician, and how to get noticed. CMU Business Editor Chris Cooke was joined by Matthew Young of Song, By Toad and Scott Maple and Al Nero of Armellodie, plus Soundcloud’s Ben Fawkes, the BBC’s James Bursey, Scottish music journalist Lisa-Marie Ferla and Dan Willson aka Withered Hand. Next CMU event at the Fringe is the music business bootcamp as part of StageTime this weekend.
