Sony/ATV re-signs Chrissie Hynde

Music publishing giant Sony/ATV has agreed to a long-term extension of an existing deal with Chrissie Hynde. As did the old contract, the new papers apply to Hynde’s writing credits on LPs by her band The Pretenders, but also her songwriting on ‘Stockholm’, the singer’s just released first solo LP, which was co-written with Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John.
Paying her respects with regards the new deal, Chrissie says: “I’ve been with these guys for a while now. And Guy Moot [Sony/ATV’s UK President] introduced me to Bjorn Yttling so he’s partly to blame for my new project”.
Fran Malyan, Sony/ATV’s Senior VP A&R/Catalogue, says: “Chrissie Hynde is one of the most iconic songwriters and musicians of the last 40 years and we are thrilled to extend a relationship with her that goes from the early days of The Pretenders right up to her fantastic new album. Her catalogue is a joy to work with because it contains so many synchable songs and remains in high demand globally”.
