Stop laughing at Blue, they are very successful

Blue

Blue would like it to be known that, despite being dropped by Sony Music, they are not a band to be laughed at. They are, in fact, very successful, and this is something that should be remembered at all times.

Here are some things that you should be remembering:

• Sixteen million sold albums.
• Over 40 number ones worldwide.
• Over two hundred performances in 23 countries worldwide in the last three years, performing to three quarters of a million people.
• The feeling doesn’t get any better.
• Worked with some incredible producers, from the Stargate team ten years ago, to Red One on the ‘Roulette’ album and Brian Rawling on ‘Colours’.

Pretty impressive, huh? Yet still some people – no, not people, journalists – think that Blue are some sort of joke. A group of men to be mocked, despite their incredible success. I mean, they just had a show on ITV2. How many shows have you had on ITV2?

“Sadly there are still those ‘journalists’ that find it fun and amusing to preach their negativity and vitriol towards us”, wrote Blue in an impassioned statement on Facebook last week. “Those that don’t listen to the fans who buy our music and come and see us live. Those that smile to our face and stab us in the back. They have always been around and perhaps just like us – they are not going anywhere either”.

Well that’s good to know. But what should we do about it? “Let the haters hate and in the meantime we are going to keep on doing what we love for everyone that enjoys Blue and what we stand for, our music. We don’t need to prove who we are, or ask permission to be here. We love Sony Music who have supported us and licensed the [‘Colours’] album for the UK and supported us on tour and we look forward to the rest of this year and the next as we move into ‘Fifteen Years Of Blue'”.

“Let’s turn haters into motivators”, they concluded. OK then: Fuck off, Blue.
