Time Out editor resigns
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 25 February 2009
Time Out’s editor Gordon Thomson has announced he is leaving the London listings magazine after five years with the title.
Thomson says he wants to pursue new projects, though his departure comes as the magazine’s owners undergo a widespread review of the title as it faces new competition from free publications and the internet, coupled with the much talked about advertising recession.
Former Heat editor Mark Frith has been brought it to help lead that review, and he is expected to be involved in finding a replacement for Thomson.
As previously reported, it’s been reported that Time Out’s bosses are willing to consider drastic changes, including the possibility of relaunching the magazine as a slimmed down free title, and putting the majority of the listings content online.
