Former Blink 182 guitarist Tom Delonge has commented on recent reports that he quit the band in order to devote more of his time to researching UFOs. Not so, he says. He never quit Blink 182.

In a recent interview with Mic, when asked if it was true that he’d chosen to focus on UFOs, rather than continue to tour with Blink 182, he said: “Well it’s not so much about Blink. It’s about what I’m doing with my life now”.

“When you’re an individual like me”, he went on, “dealing with something that’s a national security issue, and you’re being gifted with the opportunity to communicate something you’ve been passionate about your whole life – something that has the opportunity to change the world over time – being a small part of that is enormously important for my life path. But I can’t do everything. I can’t tour nine months out of the year with enough time to do the enormity of what I’m setting out to do”.

So that’s not entirely clear. What is also not entirely clear is his response to all of this, which came via a Facebook post, though he does reiterate that he never formally quit the band. “Quitting the band to search for UFOs? Hahahaha! WTF is wrong with you media?” he wrote. “I’m actually talking to Travis [Barker] about us right now… Never did quit, remember? But am I currently working with people in the government? YES. Including leadership from [Department Of Defense], Intelligence and Executive Branch? YES. Just wait for the documentary before considering ridiculous headlines”.

Delonge published a UFO-themed book, ‘Sekret Machines: Chasing Shadows’, earlier this year.
