Vigsy’s Club Tip: Ninja Tune at The Great Escape
By Paul Vig | Published on Friday 19 May 2017
Team CMU are down at The Great Escape in Brighton this weekend. By day, of course, we’re all focussed on the CMU Insights conference. Once that’s done and dusted later today, we’ll be heading out to see some music. On the more Club Tip side of things, Ninja Tune have a couple of acts on the line-up tonight and tomorrow worthy of your time.
Tonight at the Unitarian Church at 8.30pm, and then on Saturday at Komedia Studio at 3.15pm, is the label’s resident percussionist Sarathy Korwar. He blends traditional folk music of India’s Sidi community with jazz and electronics with impressive results that should make for a great live show.
Meanwhile, tomorrow evening downstairs at Patterns at 9.15pm, check out Jameszoo. Signed to Ninja’s Brainfeeder imprint, he’ll be in town to up the weirdness levels with what he calls “naïve Computer jazz”.
Friday 19 May and Saturday 20 May, The Great Escape, Brighton. More info on Sarathy Korwar here and Jameszoo here.
