Adele scores sales after guesting with Palin on SNL

Adele has topped the US iTunes download chart after guesting on Saturday Night Live, an episode boosted by a cameo from Sarah Palin.

It's a funny old world. Adele has topped the iTunes download chart in the US with the help of Vice-Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.

Adele guested on US TV show 'Saturday Night Live' last weekend which, conveniently, was the most watched edition of the programme in years thanks to a guest appearance by Palin, who cameoed on the comedy show in response to regular SNL sketches at her expense featuring impressions by comedian Tina Fey.

With an estimated 17 million Americans tuning in to see their rather scary VP hopeful do a comedy turn, Adele couldn't have hoped for more exposure, and sales this week of '19' seem to show the SNL gig is really paying off.
