Aguilera to play in China

Chinese authorities have approved a Christina Aguilera concert in Shanghai in June, though she must submit her setlist and lyrics for censorship, as the Rolling Stones did.

Christina Aguilera has been given the go-ahead by Chinese authorities for a concert in Shanghai in June. As previously reported, the Chinese government are known for their protective measures when it comes to entertainment - you'll remember that The Rolling Stones censored their own lyrics for their recent performance in the country, following a request from the ministry of culture there.

Aguilera's image has, of course, got a bit less sexually charged of late, so that's probably why it's okay - but she will still have to let the authorities know exactly what she will perform, and the lyrics, so that the Chinese government can then get her to censor anything they don't like. Reuters quote someone, I don't know who, as saying: "not every foreign artist has the luck to win Beijing's approval and Christina's sexy performance was once a concern when applying to the regulators".
