AIM organises mission to China for UK indies

The Association Of Independent Music is running a mission to China from 8-14 Sep for UK indie labels, coinciding with the Beijing Pop Festival, with Beggars Group among those involved.

The Association Of Independent Music, in conjunction with those UK Trade And Investment types, have announced yet another Mission To China, a learning-visit-come-jolly for UK independent labels on how to succeed in China's rapidly expanding entertainment market. Taking place between 8 and 14 Sep this year, the visit follows previously successful missions, and 'coincidentally' occurs with the Beijing Pop Festival, China's largest open-air music festival. Where more learning will surely go on.

During their visit the delegates will receive presentations from Chinese industry execs, lawyers and brand strategists, amongst others, to help them better understand what is demanded in China's complex market.

Simon Wheeler of one of the indies involved, Beggar's Group, commented on the visit's importance, saying: "China has great potential as a new music market, but no amount of research, listening or briefings can replace the value of actually being there, seeing how people interact with music and media and feeling the excitement of a rapidly developing market".
