Alex James says full Blur reunion not out of the question

Alex James tells the BBC he hopes Blur will make another album with Graham Coxon, saying he will try to persuade him to rejoin.

Well, I've got used to reporting on Damon Albarn's continued hopes for a full Blur reunion, but now Alex James is chipping in too. Saying that he thinks that the full band is "too good a thing to let disintegrate", he told the BBC: "I've got high hopes that Blur will have a happy four-piece ending. I think it would be a shame if it didn't really. I think we'd all like to make another record. We'd all like to do it with Graham. I've been talking to Graham a bit and hopefully I can persuade him. I'm going to have to beg him though."

He continued: "One way or another, there'll be another Blur album, with or without Graham - but hopefully with Graham. I think it's definitely worth trying. I'm sure Paul McCartney feels the same, but I still don't think we've made our best record yet. That's one of the things you get when you're a musician. You think, 'I'm going to do something brilliant in a minute'. If you don't think that, you've got to stop."

Personally I'm not sure that reunion is ever going to happen, although presumably James is on better terms with Coxon than I am, and perhaps his powers of persuasion are extraordinary. I seem to remember that the last time this issue came up, Coxon said: "I hate Blur, it ruined my life, and I would rather die than ever record with Albarn and company ever again, ever. Ever. Ever. Okay?" Well, it was something like that, anyway.
