Alicia Keys is to follow in the footsteps of Elton John and Wham! when she plays in China on Saturday. The singer is due to headline a charity concert on the Great Wall of China to raise money for the China Children's and Teenagers' Fund. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the concert, which will also feature Cyndi Lauper and Boyz II Men. Saturday's Wall of Hope concert will be the first time an international concert has been held there. Speaking about the concert, the singer said: "It's our obligation as human people who should love and care about each other. I feel disheartened by the idea that just because we don't live in the same place we don't feel and live the same things."
That said, she did note that there were some differences between China and America: "China is so much more historical than America".
