Anti-racism gig forced to move venues

The free Unity Festival headlined by The Libertines has moved from Finsbury Park to the Hammersmith Apollo after licensing conditions made the fencing too costly.

That free London mini-festival being staged by the Unite Against Facism group - the Unity Festival - has been forced to move venues after licensing restrictions made their original plans too expensive. The group had hoped to stage the gig, set to be headlined by The Libertines, in Finsbury Park. Although a licence was granted for the venture, police insisted that organisers erect a metal perimeter fence around the park, something the group just couldn't afford. The event will now be moved inside and staged at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Commenting on the move, Unite Against Facism's Waymon Vennett told the NME: "We believe if you can have opera in Trafalgar Square unshielded, then you can have rock music in a park and people can come and listen to it."

Despite the venue shift the line up remains the same for the 6 Jun event - more details at http://lmhr.ork.uk
