There’s a version of Dublin that doesn’t make the tourist brochure; bruised, searching, funny about it. Bricknasty sound like that version - rich chords of classic neo-soul, flipped on its head with a sarcastic, punky attitude. It’s all brought together by frontman Fatboy’s raspy, delicate vocal and the kind of musicianship that comes from five lads who’ve spent years playing in each other’s pockets.

The collective’s 2025 EP ‘BLACKS LAW’ moved through faith, addiction and political fury across nine tracks without once settling into a genre, and earned them stages with AndrĂ© 3000, Ezra Collective and - somehow - Coldplay at a sold-out Croke Park.

New single ‘honey bee’ is loose and funky, Fatboy moving through the complications of intimacy with total ease. Produced by Cillian McCauley, it’s warm where ‘BLACKS LAW’ was raw. And it feels like it almost breaks into an interpolation of Justin Timberlake’s Senorita half way through!

“We all need to be making more funky music that sounds deadly in the studio and deadly live”, says Fatboy. “Put that in your pipe and smoke on it”.
