Fresh off their first US tour and gearing up for their third album, Liverpool’s Courting defy easy-categorisation; proving themselves as one of the most exciting rising indie bands.

From the glitchy hyperpop-punk of their debut album ‘Guitar Music’ to the more polished ambition of their second record ‘New Last Name’, they’ve kept evolving, blending sweetness and cynicism into unpredictable ear-wormy tracks.

Their new single, ‘After You’, keeps things simple while packing in intensity. Frontman Sean Murphy-O’Neill explains that it was the first song they wrote for new album ‘Lust For Life’. “It is an exercise in direct songwriting, an attempt to create something very straightforward”, he adds.

“We wanted the wall of guitars and the drums to feel almost hypnotic. A lot of the album is about the idea of duality and, lyrically, the song can be read in either a stalkerish voice or a romantic voice. It’s all up to you”.

The result is a track that fills the room, the weight of the guitars balanced by a hypnotic lyrical ease.

That new album - ‘Lust For Life, Or: How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story’ - is out 14 Mar.
