Johannesburg’s Drumfish emerged in September 2020 into a local scene still reeling from pandemic-induced silence, distilling that post-lockdown rage into something loud and necessary. The three-piece carve out a space between garage scuzz and hard rock heft - all jagged riffs, blown-out fuzz and vocals that sneer as much as they shout.

Their 2022 double-punch debut ā€˜Demeanour’ and ā€˜Taking Hits’ introduced a sound that’s rough-edged and gloriously unpolished, balancing noise and hooks with the kind of looseness that only comes from playing loud and often. New track ā€˜Mint’ finds them sharpening their bite; a leaner, more purposeful churn that hints at deeper gears while keeping their livewire unpredictability intact.

They’re not reinventing the wheel, but they’re definitely setting it on fire.
