Eaves Wilder has been writing songs since she was eight and signed to Secretly Canadian on her eighteenth birthday. Her sound mixes dream-pop, shoegaze and alt-rock with the sisterly energy of Wet Leg, CMAT and Wolf Alice - songs that feel alive and always on the brink of some sonic or emotional edge.
Her new single âEverybody Talksâ started with a simple, maddening observation: at support shows and festivals, everybody talks. âThere were some girls at the front of the stage, just chatting really loudly all through my set. Some of it was actually quite funnyâ, she recalls. âBut what happened after that was something like an out-of-body experience⌠thatâs what âEverybody Talksâ becameâ.
Propelled by an ever-tightening pulse, the track channels the chaotic finale of Pulpâs âCommon Peopleâ, the urgency of The Walkmenâs âThe Ratâ, and the skyward rush of Slowdiveâs âStar Rovingâ.
The video sees Eaves move through festival crowds as if in her own world, headphones on, expression unreadable, while the noise and colour of everything around her blur into motion.
