Georgia has always made dance music with heart. A London-born singer, drummer, producer and lifelong studio head, her records pulse with the joy of movement - whether it’s the club-laced euphoria of ‘Seeking Thrills’ or the shimmering alt-pop of ‘Euphoric’, co-produced with Rostam.
Alongside her own output, she’s quietly become a go-to collaborator for the likes of Mura Masa, Gorillaz, Shygirl and Olly Alexander, as well as having writing credits on Shania Twain’s number one comeback ‘Queen Of Me’.
Now she’s back with ‘Wanna Play’, her first solo track in two years - and it’s an electrifying return to her analogue synth roots. Written at a “crossroads” moment in her life, the track bolts forward at 160bpm, fusing early Knife-inspired glitch with the darker textures of deep-cut Depeche Mode.
The production, sculpted with long-time collaborator Mark Ralph, is spiky and elastic - a tight, playful electro-pop rush that dances on its toes.
“It’s a bit of fun really”, Georgia says. “I wanted to explore my love for synths again!” That sense of joy cuts through - from the rubbery basslines to the twitchy rhythms - making ‘Wanna Play’ feel like both a fresh chapter and a return to the source.
