🎧 Approved: Kerala Dust

There’s a good chance you already know Kerala Dust. I hadn’t had the pleasure until this morning, which feels a miss given their 800k monthly listeners. But better late than never!

In the same way Paranoid London have mastered feverish, slightly camp but never sugary acid-house, Kerala Dust create something equally titillating on their new single ‘WHITE NOISE’; only the rest of their discography feels routed through Southern American desert highways rather than strictly the club. 

A lot of their catalogue drifts in that liminal space: loose-limbed synths, stretched transitions, but with that undeniable nocturnal mood that is fit for the party but still able to appropriately bleed into the comedown hours.

However, unlike the others, new single ‘WHITE NOISE’ isn’t built to also comfort you in the wind-down hours. Its faster BPM, driving drum machine, gritty analogue acid lines are harder and feel engineered for sweat and strobe rather than sunrise reflection. 

Frontman Edmund Kenny delivers with a kind of deadpan steadiness, moving through tracks like a late-night preacher, which only makes the acid churn underneath feel more mesmeric. 

So yes, you’ve possibly already heard of them, but this new single may feel like a fresh introduction. If you’ve got a soft spot for Paranoid London’s bite or King Gizzard’s psych detours, consider this your nudge.
