Italian post-punk band Leatherette bring us a guttural, King Krule-esque vibe, blending the restlessness of post-punk with the charm of new wave.
Their new single ‘Itchy’ is a feverish and fuzzy breakup song. Initially road-tested on their Small Talk tour, the track was later self-recorded in the band’s own cluttered bedrooms, using cheap gear and unlikely instruments (mandolin, bouzouki) to capture a raw, unvarnished sound.
"Being eternally dissatisfied, but also tireless explorers, we decided to return to our origins, seeking the expressive freedom that can be found in DIY," the band explains. The results were mixed by longtime collaborator Chris Fullard (Idles, Boris) and mastered by Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher).
Written from the perspective of an inept and creepy protagonist, the track navigates the emotional chaos of a crumbling relationship, where frustration, anger, and reluctant self-realisation collide.
