Lowertown’s world has that charming lo-fi intimacy and Tumblr-born romanticism. Signed young and shaped by years of DIY recording, the New York duo make indie pop that feels 2000s indie movie worthy, built on twangy guitars, soft distortion and emotional candour rather than polish.

Lead single ‘I Like You A Lot’, taken from their upcoming album ‘Ugly Duckling Union’, is a rare love song from the pair. Set to a spry drumbeat and tape-worn guitars, it details the physical sensations and mental spirals of infatuation. As the band put it, it’s about “the hope of a new crush” and the way admiration can tip into something obsessive, fuelled by uncertainty over whether those feelings are returned.

The track captures that in-between state before anything concrete has happened, when feeling alone can still feel full. It’s straightforward, emotionally upfront, and very much in line with the insular, hands-on way Lowertown make their music.
