🎧 Approved: Paerish

Parisian four-piece Paerish named themselves after Alan Parrish from Jumanji, formed out of film school, and make shoegazy, melodic alt-emo with a deep obsession with movies, video games and TV.

Their debut single ‘Undone’ hit 6 million Spotify streams, they’ve toured with Sum 41 and Silversun Pickups, and they’ve been working with Will Yip since their second album. Three albums in and the fourth is on the way.

New single ‘Vapor Cloud’ is riff-heavy and moves fast, with a video to match it - a nocturnal, anime-inspired drift film made with petrolheads. Drummer LoĂŻc is a devoted Japanese car enthusiast who pulled in a community of collectors and drifters for the shoot.

Lyrically the song is about the fear of losing the urge to create as you get older. “There’s a certain sadness in seeing how, once people leave their twenties behind, many of them stop being creative”, says vocalist Mathias Court. “As a songwriter, you sometimes wonder whether that urge could eventually fade away in you as well”. It evidently hasn’t for them.
