Brazil-born, LA-honed and now New York-based, Winter is the dream-pop project of singer and guitarist Samira Winter. Over the past decade sheâs carved out her own lush, shoegazey corner of the indie scene; with a sound thatâs beautifully understated, fuzzy and wistful.
Her new single âHide-A-Lullabyâ, featuring Tanukichan, drifts slow and gauzy through the subconscious with feather-light vocals, smouldering guitar and a quiet flirtation with heartbreak.
âThe song explores themes of the inner self-sabotager, the secrets hidden in the corners of the mind, and the dark forest as a symbol for the subconsciousâ, Winter says. Tanukichanâs velvety voice is the perfect foil for that imagery.
A short film blends LA River performance shots with glimpses of Winterâs creative circle, making it a soft, smoky and very watchable taste of her upcoming album âAdult Romantixâ.
