Arcade Fire frontman on the mend

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has had successful surgery for a sinus and bronchial infection, and the band plan to return for summer European festivals.

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has confirmed he has successfully undergone surgery in a bid to overcome the health problems behind those recent European gig cancellations. Butler received surgery in a bid of cure a sinus and bronchial infection he contracted mid-way through his band's European tour.

In a posting on the band's website, Butler writes: "Just wanted to let you all know that the surjery (sic) was successful, and I am recovering nicely. Thank you for all of your thoughts and emails. I will probably start singing again this week some time to try and get ready for the shows in North America".

Assuming all goes to plan, Arcade Fire will return to Europe to play a number of festival dates this summer, including Glastonbury, T In The Park, Latitude and Reading/Leeds.
