Arctic Monkeys talk about influences

Arctic Monkeys cite Ricky Martin, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and MC Hammer as influences on their new album, which is produced by James Ford.

Arctic Monkeys have been claiming that they were influenced by a slightly bizarre range of stuff on their new album 'Favourite Worst Nightmares'. They say that Ricky Martin was an influence, as was 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory', whilst bass player Nick O'Malley said that MC Hammer also helped: "If you're gonna try and create a good atmosphere, why not wear some MC Hammer parachute trousers?" he said. "Comfort first of course, with a bonus aesthetic...it's a guilty pleasure of ours".

Ahem. The new LP, produced by Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford, is out on Monday.
