Deradoorian

Following on from her recent collaborations with The Soft Pink Truth, Angel Deradoorian is set to release her latest album – her first for Anti- Records – next month. It’s called ‘Find The Sun’.

Delayed from its original release date in May due to, well, you know, five of the album’s ten tracks have already been released as singles. Although far from detracting from the experience of the overall album, this slow drip feed of music feels in-keeping with the themes of deep self-exploration found across the record.

“Overall, a lot of these songs are about trying to reach yourself – how to be your most brilliant self, because we come from a culture that doesn’t actually support this”, she says. “We are so deeply programmed to obey societal boundaries that we don’t even know the power we contain within”.

Delving into motorik beats, psychedelia, folk and touches of post-rock, the album feels very free, like someone allowing songs to flow out of them rather than trying to coax them out.

She goes on: “I think it would be cool if people lay on the floor to listen to [this record], and let it go through their bodies. Being in that kind of space of awareness making it, I hope it evokes a physical reaction for people. That has so much to do with frequencies, vibrational relationships in sound”.

‘Find The Sun’ is out on 18 Sep. Watch the video for latest single, ‘Mask Of Yesterday’, here…
